The Payroll Manager manages the Corporate Payroll Department, ensuring that all processes are executed appropriately and in a timely manner. This includes payroll tax reporting and reconciliations. Operates as the subject matter expert and escalation point to resolve issues and continuously looks for improvements in processes. Optimizes the contribution of the team through coaching, counseling and implements workable solutions to business issues/problems. Conducts work planning and prioritization to optimize performance of the team and defines standards. This individual manages effective internal/external client relationships within own area of responsibility, and builds client relationships in the wider group or unit. This position has has been segmented as Remote Anywhere meaning the work is completed 100% remote anywhere in the U.S. except Hawaii or United States Territories. The Corporate Payroll Manager is responsible for a high-volume multi-state centralized in-house payroll processing function which includes up to 65 sites, approximately 26,000 employees in 48 states.  Duties include the following: - Manage a staff of 8-12 payroll and tax professionals in the processing of payroll data, ensuring the timely and accurate computation, payment of payroll, garnishments and related taxes. - Creates annual team objectives. - Train team members on new or enhanced procedures and policies. - Ensure team members acquire necessary skills and performance attributes, in line with business and personal development needs. - Assist in monitoring workload and evaluate direct reports and reviews the evaluations/development plans of others. - Sets payroll business objectives. - Provide guidance to corporate and field-based payroll associates. - Ensure that payroll processes are consistent with company policies and comply with state and federal regulations.    - Provide guidance to and shares knowledge with colleagues/team members relating to own specialization. - Works in conjunction with Information Technology to develop system upgrades and/or enhancements. - Identify process improvement initiatives. - Implement quality control measures. - Assists internal and external auditors during audit process by providing documents, reports and other payroll-related reports upon request; implements procedural changes recommended by auditors. - Conducts interview process for new hires into Payroll roles. Education/Training:  - High School diploma or equivalent required - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business preferred or equivalent experience - CPP Certification preferred Related Experience:  - 8+ years of experience with high volume 10,000+ employees, multi-state customer base preferred - 3+ years of Workday Payroll experience preferred - 3+ years of management experience required - 3+ years of Kronos experience Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:  - Detail oriented with strong organizational, analytical skills. - Knowledge of applicable local, state and federal payroll and related tax laws, regulations and statutes. - Strong customer service skills. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Demonstrated coaching/mentoring skills and issue management problem solving skills. - Strong organization skills, attention to detail and follow through to resolve any outstanding issues. - Strong time management skills. - Ability to adapt to changing environment. - Ability to analyze/interpret data and take appropriate action. - Sarbanes-Oxley compliance experience - Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications This role will also receive an annual incentive plan bonus. ​Benefits for this role may include health insurance, pre-tax spending accounts, retirement benefits, paid time off, short-term and long-term disability, employee stock purchase plan, and life insurance.
