BookNook is seeking passionate educators to join our tutoring community as independent contractors, working up to 30 hours per week. BookNook tutors are on the front lines of working to close the opportunity gap for K-8 students during a key period of their educational journey.
Our online tutors conduct live, synchronous online tutoring sessions using the BookNook platform and video conferencing software. This is an exciting opportunity to have a direct, positive impact on students on their path to achieving success in Math.
As we near the end of the school year, BookNook is seeking to hire tutors for programs scheduled to begin in the Fall of 2025. We will be reviewing applications on an as-needed basis leading up to and through the summer. Please note that response times will be longer than usual. We are NOT currently hiring for immediate work.
Position Specifics:
• Subject: K-8th grade math
• Position Type: 1099-eligible independent contractor
• Timeline: Programs begin Fall 2025
• Pay Rate: $20 per hour ($10 per 30-minute session)
• Schedule: Up to 30 hours per week based on the tutor's availability and the number of active tutoring programs. Schedules may vary based on school requests.
• Sessions are held only on weekdays (no weekends) and can be before, during, or after school.
• Program duration varies. Tutors are expected to commit to a full program with the same group of students throughout (duration will be known when series are offered).

Responsibilities:
• Conduct virtual tutoring sessions in Math using the BookNook platform. Lessons for math sessions include inquiry-based instruction, with a strong focus on explicit instruction. Curriculum and content will be provided within the platform.
• Manage student behavior and engagement throughout sessions.
• Create a safe, respectful learning environment.
• Maintain positive relationships with students throughout the entire schedule of the program.
• Document observations for each session.
