Job Title: Network Security Engineer
Duration: 3.5 Months (Extension Likely)
Location: Hybrid - New York, NY 10003
Position Overview
"Navitas Partners, LLC" is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Network Security Engineer to support the hardening and modernization of enterprise network infrastructure. This role focuses on auditing legacy configurations, strengthening network segmentation, and advancing a Zero-Trust security architecture.
The ideal candidate will lead firewall governance initiatives, eliminate technical debt, and ensure global network compliance with institutional security standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Firewall & ACL Governance
• Conduct comprehensive audits of firewall rule sets and Access Control Lists (ACLs) to remove redundant, outdated, or overly permissive entries.
• Assist in developing and enforcing standardized procedures for firewall and ACL changes.
• Ensure all modifications align with established security policies and compliance frameworks.
2. Network Segmentation & Isolation
• Review and enhance network segmentation strategies, including micro-segmentation, to reduce attack surface and prevent lateral movement.
• Design and implement VLANs and routing policies to enforce strict separation across trust zones (e.g., Student, Faculty, Research, IoT, Administrative networks).
3. Legacy Infrastructure Decommissioning
• Identify and decommission legacy network segments, unused VLANs, and obsolete hardware configurations.
• Lead migration and consolidation efforts from specialized or outdated infrastructures to standardized, modern platforms.
4. Documentation & Compliance
• Maintain accurate network topology diagrams and detailed documentation for all security and segmentation changes.
• Ensure all network security activities comply with internal security mandates and external regulatory standards.
Qualifications
• Strong experience in network security engineering within enterprise environments.
• Hands-on expertise with firewall technologies and ACL management.
• Proven experience in network segmentation, VLAN configuration, and routing policies.
• Familiarity with Zero-Trust architecture principles.
• Experience decommissioning legacy infrastructure and modernizing network environments.
• Excellent documentation and compliance management skills.
