Literacy Interventionist MTSS, Grades 6-12 (Remote – Colorado Only))

Position Summary The MTSS Literacy Interventionist provides targeted, data-driven literacy instruction and intervention to students identified through the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). This role collaborates closely with the MTSS team and mentors to design, implement, and monitor reading and writing interventions that address individual student needs. The Literacy Interventionist supports student growth in literacy skills while promoting confidence, engagement, and academic success. Essential Duties (Top 5 Roles) 1) Deliver targeted language arts interventions aligned to MTSS tiers - Provide small-group and individualized literacy intervention for students receiving Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports - Implement evidence-based instructional strategies in reading and writing, including comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, grammar, and written expression - Differentiate instruction based on student data, learning goals, and identified skill gaps - Monitor student understanding and adjust instruction to maximize progress 2) Collaborate with the Williamsburg Academy of Colorado MTSS team and ELA team - Communicate regularly with the MTSS team regarding student progress, challenges, and intervention effectiveness - Participate in MTSS meetings and contribute data-based insights and recommendations - Coordinate with LA mentors to align interventions with core instruction and curricular goals - Attend weekly LA team L10 coordination meetings 3) Track, document, and analyze student progress - Maintain accurate records of intervention sessions, attendance, and student performance - Collect and analyze literacy data to monitor growth and inform instructional decisions - Prepare progress notes and reports for MTSS documentation and team review - Assist with authorizer site review evidence collection 4) Provide language arts support in the drop-in tutoring lab - Attend scheduled tutoring lab hours to provide supplemental literacy support to students - Assist students with reading assignments, writing tasks, and skill reinforcement aligned to MTSS goals - Collaborate with tutors and MTSS team members to ensure consistency of instructional strategies and supports - Observe and note patterns in student needs to inform intervention planning and progress monitoring 5) Foster a positive, supportive learning environment - Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment in small-group or individual settings - Actively encourage, motivate, and engage students to build confidence and perseverance in literacy skills - Support positive student behavior and promote effective reading, writing, and study strategies Non-Essential Duties Please note that this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of the activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, Literacy, or a closely related field - Demonstrated knowledge of language arts instruction, including reading comprehension, writing development, grammar, and vocabulary - Experience delivering literacy intervention within an MTSS framework or comparable data-driven model, including progress monitoring and instructional adjustments - Proven experience working with educational staff, students, and families - Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment - Ability to manage multiple students and instructional priorities simultaneously - Ability to support diverse learners with varying literacy needs - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - Experience with digital learning platforms (e.g., Canvas, Zoom, Google Workspace, and literacy intervention tools) - Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships - Strong organizational and data-tracking skills Working Conditions - Remote work environment - Expected working hours include attendance in the tutoring lab Monday–Thursday from 1:30–3:30 p.m. MT and Friday from 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. MT.
