About the role: Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have insights, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations. A Senior Director Analyst serves as an insights leader within Gartner’s Business & Technology Insights practice, and has a credible voice within the global market. A Senior Director Analyst produces pragmatic and provocative insights to propel Gartner clients toward their key business objectives. Analysts are a trusted source of advice for clients, engaging with them via virtual meetings, sales support visits and Gartner events to discuss complex client challenges and offer actionable solutions. As part of Gartner’s Corporate Assurance Practice, you will join a dynamic team focused on advising General Counsel, legal operations leaders, and other legal and compliance leaders on how to set department strategy and measure impact, hire, structure and retain top talent, improve their processes and workflows, identify cost and productivity efficiencies, and execute on key legal department initiatives such as technology implementation. This role will significantly expand coverage for the practice, and we are seeking an entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and ideas-driven individual to assist clients related to the topics below. What you will do: • Create innovative, thought provoking, and highly leveraged must-have written insights for General Counsel, legal operations leaders, and other legal and compliance leaders and provide best practices and advice on how legal departments manage specific operations and workflows (e.g., the budgeting process, strategic planning, knowledge management, outside counsel and vendor management), improve department efficiency, standardize legal work, and measure cost and performance outcomes. • Deliver high quality actionable advice through face-to-face and video-based presentations and discussions with clients • Remain ahead of the curve on developments and issues within these specified areas as well as applicable adjacent areas (e.g., legal department technology markets and trends). • Collaborate with peers and other experts across teams to understand client challenges, current market dynamics, evaluate vendors if required, and establish shared and consistent thought leadership and positions on relevant issues. • Develop in-depth analysis to identify the root cause of a client’s challenges and reframe thinking to drive strategy forward. • Research, analyze and predict market trends and shifts to provide clients and vendors with actionable insights. • Provide sales support, serving as the voice of the market to help research teams create content and to drive engagement with clients to make progress against their critical priorities to grow their business. • Provide sales support, serving as the voice of market and domain expert, assisting Gartner’s commercial team paint a vision of service for prospective Gartner clients. • Support other Gartner analysts in the creation of content to drive engagement with clients, helping them to make progress against their critical priorities. • Provide high-quality and timely peer review on peers’ research content. Have credibility as an industry expert to represent Gartner insights, methodology and strategy. • Actively participate in innovation & ideation discussions and collaborate effectively with peers in the insights community. • Identify research process improvements or develop new processes that help the team and the practice efficiently generate must have insights for Gartner clients. • Be a mentor and a coach by supporting more junior and peer team members • Be client-centric, actively seeking to help clients engage regularly and often with Gartner insights and interactions. • Create and deliver high-value presentation materials (either in-person or virtual) for Gartner events, industry and professional association conferences, webinars, and client briefings. What you will need: • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience • 12+ years of relevant field or industry experience (ideally as a legal operations leader, and/or as an attorney or consultant familiar with key legal department workflows) • Subject matter expertise in legal department operations and legal process workflows, with experience leading multi-year legal transformation and workflow improvement projects. Additionally, hands-on experience implementing and maintaining legal department technology systems is preferred. • Strong ability to communicate business cases to legal leaders, implement strategy, and secure buy-in for change using legal, business, and financial lenses. • Knowledge and experience with legal department technology tools (e.g., e-billing, matter management, contracts management, AI tools, GRC). • Experience and interest in advising, presenting to, and writing for the most senior levels of an organization (e.g., General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, Chief Information Off
