The Hire Mark - Intake Coordinator & Authorization Specialist
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Intake Coordinator & Authorization Specialist to support our behavioral health services team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring smooth onboarding of new referrals, accurate provider assignments, and timely authorization submissions with Managed Care Organizations (MCOs).
The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and able to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Intake & Referral Coordination
• Process new referrals and complete intake documentation
• Review referral information for accuracy and completeness
• Coordinate intake workflow to ensure timely service initiation
Provider Assignment
• Assign appropriate providers based on client needs and availability
• Coordinate staffing needs with recruiting and scheduling teams
• Ensure proper documentation of provider assignments
Authorization Management
• Submit new authorization requests to Managed Care Organizations (MCOs)
• Process reauthorization requests as services continue
• Track authorization status and follow up as needed to prevent service disruptions
Eligibility Monitoring
• Monitor member eligibility and MCO transfers
• Ensure authorizations remain current and accurate
• Update internal systems to reflect eligibility changes
Qualifications
• Prior experience in healthcare intake, authorizations, or care coordination preferred
• Experience working with Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) is a plus
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong communication and coordination skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with internal teams
• Familiarity with healthcare systems or EMR platforms preferred
