The Group Health Account Specialist manages and grows assigned employer group health accounts by serving as the primary point of contact for clients, brokers, and internal partners. This role ensures high‑quality service delivery, supports retention goals, strengthens agent relationships, and acts as a trusted advisor by coordinating cross‑functional support to deliver an exceptional customer experience. This individual may work fully remote within the continental United States. Key Responsibilities - Serve as the primary relationship owner for assigned agency partners and their book of business. - Develop a deep understanding of employer benefit strategies and provide consultative guidance. - Build and maintain strong relationships with agencies, policyholders, and internal stakeholders. - Conduct regular agency meetings, including plan performance reviews and renewal discussions. - Lead the annual renewal process, including planning, analysis, coordination, and implementation. - Partner with underwriting and sales on rates, plan design changes, and proposals. - Identify retention risks and proactively implement strategies to improve satisfaction and persistency. - Coordinate with internal teams (operations, enrollment, billing, claims, underwriting, compliance) to resolve escalated service issues. - Monitor service levels, ensure SLAs are met, and manage complex issues through resolution. - Analyze account performance, utilization trends, and service metrics. - Prepare and present reports, business reviews, and recommendations to clients and leadership. - Maintain accurate documentation in CRM and internal systems. - Maintain knowledge of group health products, regulations, and industry trends while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. - Participate in required training and ongoing professional development. - Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications - Generally, 3+ years of experience in group health, employee benefits, or insurance account management. - Strong client relationship management, problem‑solving, and communication skills. - Ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities in a fast‑paced environment. - Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office tools. - Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration, or related field; active Life & Health insurance license (or ability to obtain); experience working with brokers, consultants, or general agencies; familiarity with self‑funded medical plans.
