The Position This position will support agents/brokers with placing Healthcare and Human Services Professional Liability insurance coverage. Candidates will evaluate and analyze risks for acceptability based on underwriting guidelines and individual risk characteristics. Candidates will have extensive experience in their area of expertise and will have a strategic plan for building a book of business. This position will report to the Vice President of Professional Liability and be based in our Westlake, TX office or remote for qualified candidates. This position will have responsibility for: - Building and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with agents/brokers - Managing a profitable book of Healthcare Medical Malpractice and Human Services business including review of new business, renewal business, and mid-term endorsements - Executing on deliverables for quoting/binding business based on Service Level Commitments - Operating within a defined authority statement - Exercising sound underwriting judgement as it relates to pricing, forms applications, deductibles, etc. - Other duties as assigned Requirements - This role can be Underwriter, Senior Underwriter or Underwriting Manager depending on candidate’s experience - Minimum 3 years’ experience in Underwriting (5 years for managerial candidate with the focus on medical malpractice and Excess/Umbrella liability coverages for various types of healthcare facilities (long term care, hospitals, surgery centers, clinics, labs, home healthcare, etc.). - Bachelor's degree and/or relevant industry designations/industry experience preferred - Understanding of liability insurance policy wording, terms and conditions.
