About the Role
As a Social Studies Teacher at Beaumont Independent School District, you'll play a vital role in shaping the minds of our students. You'll be responsible for developing and implementing engaging lesson plans, assessing student progress, and creating a supportive learning environment that caters to diverse learning styles. Key Responsibilities
- Instructional Strategies:
- Develop and implement lesson plans that meet district curriculum requirements and cater to different learning styles.
- Use a range of instructional and learning strategies, activities, and materials to engage students.
- Assess student learning styles and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for special education students.
- Student Growth and Development:
- Help students analyze and improve their study methods and habits.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities and sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
- Classroom Management and Organization:
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and suitable for students' physical, social, and emotional development.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Communication:
- Establish and maintain open lines of communication with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Professional Growth and Development:
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
- Demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement.
- Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you'll need:
- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college.
- A valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for the subject/level assigned.
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
- Fluency in a foreign language for LOTE teachers.
- Current automated external defibrillator (AED) certificate for Physical Education Teachers.
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- At least one year of student teaching or approved internship.
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
