Position Overview
We're looking for an experienced Elementary Spanish Teacher who is passionate about delivering high-quality education and is committed to our mission. This 10-month position reports to the Principal and is a remote work opportunity, offering flexibility and the chance to work with a innovative educational model.
Key Responsibilities
- Professional Learning and Development:
- Attend yearly professional development sessions, including Faculty and Grade-Level Meetings, job-embedded Professional Development, and cluster meetings.
- Participate in the Teacher Advancement Program (TAP), a comprehensive initiative designed to attract, develop, and retain talented educators.
- Engage in continuous learning and professional growth, with a focus on student strategies, student work analysis, and Individual Growth Plan (IGP) Development.
- Student Engagement:
- Ensure all or almost all students are engaged in the work of the lesson from start to finish, completing instructional tasks, volunteering responses, and following behavioral expectations.
- Foster a classroom environment with a quick pace, where students execute transitions, routines, and procedures efficiently with minimal direction.
- Essential Content:
- Create common core-aligned lesson plans and unit plans that lead to standards mastery and are aligned to grade-level expectations and end-of-year assessments.
- Ensure all activities and instructional materials are high-quality, demanding, and appropriately sequenced to move students toward mastery of grade-level standards and/or IEP goals.
- Academic Ownership:
- Promote a classroom culture where all or most students provide meaningful oral or written evidence to support their thinking, complete cognitive work, and respond to and build on their peers' thinking.
- Encourage students to provide constructive feedback and respond productively to peers.
- Demonstration of Learning:
- Use questions, tasks, and assessments to yield data that allows for the assessment of students' progress toward learning goals.
- Provide extensive opportunities for students to express learning through academic writing and/or explanations using academic language.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related area of study.
- Two years of teaching experience.
- A valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate with Louisiana Certification (preferred).
- A proven record of high student achievement, as evidenced by previous evaluations and Compass scores (highly preferred).
- A desire and ability to succeed in a student-friendly, detail-oriented, community environment.
- A belief in the Algiers Charter mission and educational model.
- Openness to professional learning, formal and informal observations, and feedback.

- Strong instructional design and delivery skills, with the ability to create engaging lesson plans and unit plans.
- Excellent classroom management skills, with the ability to maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
- The ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and parents.
