Job Summary
We're seeking an experienced Elementary School Teacher to join our team, specializing in Grades 4 & 5. As a key member of our educational community, you will be responsible for creating engaging and inclusive learning experiences that cater to the diverse needs of our students. Key Responsibilities
- Cultivate a positive classroom and school environment that promotes intellectual, physical, social, and emotional growth in students.
- Plan and provide relevant and engaging learning experiences aligned to standards, using current instructional techniques and best practices.
- Demonstrate content knowledge and the ability to implement, adapt, and differentiate the AACPS curriculum to meet the needs of all students.
- Create and maintain a collaborative and engaging learning environment that considers research and best practices on teaching and learning, social emotional wellness, and equity.
- Prepare, administer, score, and use diagnostic, formative, and summative data to monitor and evaluate student outcomes, keeping attendance and grade records as required.
- Communicate and confer with students, families, teachers, and school leaders regarding progress/areas of concern and parent/student/teacher conferences as necessary.
- Collaborate with colleagues and administrators to build skills and knowledge of current trends, research, and methodology with a lens of equity.
- Participate in professional growth and development to expand knowledge of pedagogy and content knowledge in the related fields of elementary education.
- Attend and participate in staff/faculty meetings, providing input regarding planning of instructional goals, objectives, and methods, and serving on special committees.
Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of education from a regionally accredited college or university.
- If assigned to a bilingual program, candidates are required to be bilingual and biliterate in the targeted language. Otherwise, bilingual and biliterate in the target language is preferred.
- If assigned to the Virtual Academy, one (1) year of experience with virtual learning technology, remote instruction platforms, Learning Management Systems, and video conferencing tools is required.

- Ability to deal effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Knowledge of and proficiency in technical areas of instruction.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and engage diverse parents/guardians with varied communication styles, levels of skill, and experience to support their child's education experience.
- Ability to employ a variety of teaching styles to respond to the needs of diverse learners.
- Ability to travel to/from Maryland sites as necessary at the expense of the employee for in-person appearances at various intervals throughout the duration of the school year.
- Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications (e.g., Video/Web Conferencing, Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, and/or PowerPoint preferred).
