We are seeking an experienced Crisis Specialist to join our 24/7/365 mental health crisis/suicide prevention focused team, handling incoming chat/text messages through the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL), also known as 988.
**Job Summary:**
As a Crisis Specialist, you will be responsible for providing brief clinical screenings, risk assessments, and appropriate service linkage for individuals who are experiencing emotional distress. While the interactions begin online, this position may also support telephonic intervention if an individual would prefer or need continued support to ensure safety. You will be working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, requiring strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team.
**Key Responsibilities:**
* Provides telephonic or chat clinical screenings and risk assessments for individuals in crisis
* Answers crisis contacts via the chat/text platform to assess for suicide, safety, and identify appropriate community resources to best meet individual needs
* Conducts follow-up calls for individuals who are deemed moderate to high risk for suicide
* Meets the ethical and clinical standards in compliance with all accreditation
* Actively participates in ongoing supervision, training, and team meetings
* Assists in administrative tasks as needed
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:**
* Effectively communicate via written, verbal, in-person, and virtual methods
* Demonstrates high-level customer service skills and professional etiquette
* Demonstrates knowledge and competency in providing service linkage and referrals for programs, services, and other community resources
* Knowledge of suicide assessments
* Skill in providing crisis intervention
**Shifts:**
* #1: 4am-12:30pm Sunday – Thursday with Friday/Saturday Off
* #2: 4:30am-1:00pm Wednesday-Sunday with Monday/Tuesday off
* #3: 6:00am-2:30pm Sunday-Thursday with Friday/Saturday off
* #4: 9am-5:30pm Friday-Tuesday with Wednesday/Thursday off
* #5: 12pm-8:30pm Sunday-Thursday with Friday/Saturday off
* #6: 3:00pm-11:00pm Wednesday-Sunday with Monday/Tuesday off
* #7: 6:30pm-3:00am Friday-Tuesday with Wednesday/Thursday Off
* #8: 9:00pm-5:30am Sunday-Thursday with Friday/Saturday off
* #9: 10:00pm-6:30am Tuesday-Saturday with Sunday/Monday off
**Qualifications:**
* Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science, Psychology, Social Work, or related field required; or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist
* Six months to one year of related crisis experience is preferred
* Required Certification/Licensure: N/A
