SUMMARY: The Director of Delivery Coordination is responsible for orchestrating delivery across 11 software development scrum teams, ensuring alignment, predictability, and high-quality outcomes across a complex, multi-team organization. This role serves as the connective layer that coordinates priorities, manages cross-team dependencies, and maintains visibility across all in-flight initiatives. The Director of Delivery Coordination partners closely with Scrum Masters, Product, Engineering, QA, DevOps, and Support teams to ensure work flows smoothly from planning through production delivery.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cross-Team Delivery Coordination:
- Oversee work moving across 11+ scrum teams, ensuring alignment of priorities and clear visibility into progress, risks, and dependencies.
- Identify and manage cross-team impacts, bottlenecks, conflicting timelines, and escalation points before they affect delivery.
- Partner with the Scrum Master team to maintain consistent Agile rhythms and high-quality ceremonies across teams.
- Facilitate coordination mechanisms such as Scrum of Scrums, cross-team standups, dependency mapping, and integrated release planning.
Agile Process & Workflow Alignment:
- Work with Scrum Masters to ensure teams follow sustainable and collaborative Agile practices while adapting methods based on maturity and needs.
- Support continuous improvement efforts around predictability, workflow efficiency, communication, and quality.
- Promote consistent sprint metrics and ensure teams use data constructively to drive incremental improvement.
- Support Agile maturity assessments, retrospectives, and delivery improvement initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Act as a liaison across Development, Product, PMO, QA, DevOps, Operations, and Support to align work, clarify priorities, and resolve conflicts.
- Partner with Product leadership to build realistic, aligned delivery plans that accurately reflect capacity and constraints.
- Ensure cross-functional work is sequenced appropriately and that all teams have clarity on handoffs and expectations.
Risk, Dependency & Escalation Management:
- Maintain visibility into organizational risk areas, dependency conflicts, and timeline integrity across all 11 teams.
- Proactively escalate risks with context, options, and recommendations for leadership decision-making.
- Facilitate resolution of cross-team resource or priority conflicts.
Delivery Transparency & Reporting
- Provide clear, accurate reporting on delivery progress, sprint health, capacity, and team-level velocity trends.
- Support release planning and readiness activities in collaboration with Engineering and DevOps.
- Help ensure high-quality handoffs between development, QA, deployment, and support teams.
Team Collaboration & Leadership Support
- Collaborate with Scrum Masters, offering guidance and partnership on team blockers, delivery challenges, and process adjustments.
- Help reinforce collaboration, psychological safety, and accountability across teams.
- Coach team leads, product owners, and engineers on cross-team communication, prioritization, and delivery alignment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 8+ years in software delivery roles (Scrum Master, Delivery Manager, Program Manager, Product Owner, or similar).
- 3+ years coordinating work across multiple Agile development teams.
- Significant experience in cross-team delivery planning and dependency management.
- Strong understanding of engineering SDLC, DevOps practices, and release management.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities across technical and non-technical teams.
- Certifications (optional): CSM, PSM, SAFe Agilist, PMI-ACP, or equivalent.
