Impact Kids is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Curriculum Writer to help us develop engaging, hands-on science/STEM-based activities for our Curiosity Club after-school program. Each project should spark curiosity, encourage critical thinking, and be fun and easy for teachers to implement. About the Role: We’re building a series of 8–12 week after-school curriculum of 45–60 minute science/STEM activities tailored for students in grades 1 – 5. Each lesson should include hands-on experiments, challenges, or builds that promote exploration and real-world learning using low-cost materials. You’ll be responsible for designing project-based lesson plans that: - Are age-appropriate, engaging, and easy to teach - Require low-cost materials (no more than $2.00 per student per project) - Include clear step-by-step instructions - Include a materials list with US Amazon Link (for 25 students per project) - Include sample images of the completed project - Include brief learning objectives and key takeaways Project Scope: - Deliverables: 6 Series of Program Plans each including 8–12 individual lesson plans (48 - 72 total individual lesson plans) - Time per lesson: 45–60 minutes - Target age range: 1st – 5th graders - Topics may include but are not limited to: Chemistry, Engineering, Forces, Weather, Life Science, Space, Environmental Science, and more. - All projects must be safe, easy to set up, and doable in a classroom or multi-purpose room with no access to lab equipment. What We’re Looking For: - Experience developing curriculum or lesson plans for 1st – 5th students - Background in STEM, education, child development, or related fields - Passion for inquiry-based, hands-on learning - Ability to provide high-quality images (can be phone quality as long as clear) - Strong attention to detail and ability to write clearly for both students and instructors What You’ll Provide for Each Lesson: - Lesson Title + Brief Overview - List of Materials & US Amazon Link to Purchase (budget-conscious) - Learning Objectives - Step-by-step Instructions - Cleanup Instructions - Student Reflection Prompt (optional) - 1–3 Sample Photos of the Final Project Examples of Past Projects: - DIY Volcanoes - Build-a-Bridge Challenge - Make Snow - Will it Float? - Grow Your Own Crystal Timeline: - We’re ready to start immediately and would like the full set of all lessons delivered within 2–3 weeks.
